Thank you so much for all your wonderful comment on the blog hop post! Unfortunately my blog had a mind of its own and I was unable to get notifications by email. I believe I replied everyone one way or the other and if I didn’t, I apologize.
Where were we?…Yes, I was telling you about my crazy experiment with trying to up size Jen’s wonderful pattern because making the small one just wasn’t enough! I decided to multiply all the given dimensions…I mean if you want to double numbers you multiply by 2 isn’t it? Turns out it isn’t as simple as that with quilting maths. Happy New month friends, it’s already a week gone in the new month and I haven’t been here but I promise I have so many exciting things to share with you I don’t even know where to start. Let’s get right to it shall we?
Remember the color theory experiment I did on that baby quilt first mentioned here? I said it’s one of those love it or hate it color combinations and I kept second guessing myself all the while I was working on this project. Guess what, it is now a completed project and I absolutely love it, so much I can easily say it’s one of my favorite finishes. This was such an enlightening project in so many ways, I learnt to stop second guessing myself and just take a chance. It was also interesting to see the transformation that took place as I quilted this. Continue reading “F is for Finished…Friday Finished Quilt Reveal.”
Thank you so much for all your warm birthday wishes and for making my day very special!
Unfortunately, I keep getting disappointments regarding the delivery of my sewing table. At this point, I have resigned myself to patiently waiting for the delivery whenever it comes through. Consequently, I am not getting a lot of sewing done as my stop-gap setup is not the most convenient and piecing or small quilting is all I can do.
Anyway, I completed the Wonky Log Cabin Baby Quilt a while back like I mentioned in previous posts hereand here. Over the weekend I made an attempt to photograph it. Now I can finally reveal the finished Quilt, I have to say I absolutely love this one, probably because I enjoyed the process of making it so much 🙂 Continue reading “It’s a wrap…First Finished Quilt of 2017”
Remember my current work in progress is the wonky quilt-as-you-go Log Cabin. I showed you my progress in the last Post, as of today though, I have now made enough blocks for a baby quilt as contemplated. The quilt top is completely pieced and while I tried to choose an arrangement that best showcases the blocks, In the end I decided to go with the flow.
With the top now completed, it is time to look for a backing fabric. In the spirit of improvising though, I might make a pieced backing from the left over fabrics from piecing the top.
My sewing table didn’t make it home this past weekend after all but I did manage to get some sewing done with my stop gap setup. Anyway, remember my challenge for now is to quilt my stash of strip scraps and I have been doing just that with my experiments so far. This weekend I decided to take it a step further, probably because I was inspired by the idea of improv piecing from Carole’s Book. What better way to get rid of some of my scraps than a fun log cabin block piece. To make it even more fun I figured wonky log cabin quilt was just the thing! I did say I particularly liked the color palette of my EPP project from Work in Progress Wednesday and could likely make a quilt in that palette.
Hello again everyone, if you received my earlier post We are moving then you know we are in a new location. So far everything looks about right but please let me know of any observations, issues or questions in your comments… Thanks!
Besides welcoming you to the new location, I thought I should share with you some of the projects I’ve been working on as mentioned here. As a follow up on that post, I mentioned I was attaching the backing and finishing off my Quilt-As-You-Go Queen Size Quilt…I can gladly report it’s done! Continue reading “Hello from the other side!”
I hate to admit it but everyone might actually be right…It’s very possible I am addicted to fabric shopping but isn’t every Quilter or maybe not? Anyway, on this faithful day, Fabric.com sent an email about having sales on certain fabric lines including their Disney Character panels. I remembered in that mail they had this Princess Sofia panel that was really pretty…You probably know where I am heading with this right? Nevertheless, I followed the link with the intention of feeding my eyes (One day I’d actually do just that) and check out what the sales were all about. One thing led to another and before you know it, there were about 30 panels in my basket! I closed the page in my guilt and kept going back and forth removing and adding over the next few days before the sales stopped…long story short, I ended up getting 17 panels only (ssshhh let it be our little secret 😉 ) Continue reading “It’s “Game on” at the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse”
