Eid Mubarak! Happy Eid- el- Fitr to all the Muslims around the world…Have a good one!
The Nigerian Federal Government announced Tuesday the 5th and Wednesday the 6th of July as public holidays for the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr which marks the end of the Muslim fast…*I did my happy dance*. I’ve been so behind on my current projects thanks to work and the fact that I’ve been away from home for the past 2 weeks with absolutely no sewing. Consequently, I was overjoyed at the thought of 2 days uninterrupted quilting “all things being equal” and believe me a lot can go wrong to change that for instance, there might be no electricity…Yes you read that right! I still live in that part of the world where uninterrupted electricity is a dream waiting to be fulfilled!
What does sighting of the moon have to do with my work in progress? Well it turned out sighting of the Crescent moon which marks the official end of the fasting and the beginning of the celebration didn’t happen Monday evening as expected which meant the celebration couldn’t begin Tuesday as initially predicted Yes!!! That meant an extra day of fasting for the Muslims but for me? The Government graciously announced Thursday the 7th as an additional holiday *calls for another happy dance* on top of that “all things have actually been equal” meaning I had electricity throughout Tuesday and Wednesday so far is already shaping up to be a good day!
Now to my work in progress, remember those 5 bed size Quilts I’ve been working on, mentioned them here and here? I finally took on the biggest one which is a Queen size and a recreation of this lap size I made for a friend last year…with a little variation of course.
I know I lamented about my “Quilt as you go” experience from the ones I previously posted but I couldn’t resist doing it again for this one. It’s really big – I used a less lofty batting though so it’s not as heavy thank Goodness! Here’s what I have to show at this time and thanks to that extra holiday, I just might be able to complete it this weekend fingers crossed.
Thanks for stopping by and wish me luck as I try to finish this…i’m off to quilt the other parts and this one is going without a border. Enjoy the rest of your week
