I know it’s already a couple of days gone in the new year but it’s not too late to wish you a happy new year. Wow what a year 2017 was. The year started on a great note with lots of hope and promises. I recall my first post from 2017 where I listed my key words as consistency and discipline with all intention of keeping to them. I did try to be consistent and disciplined especially in my quilting and blogging but life literally happened.
I can’t believe how long I’ve stayed away from here…let’s just say between work, health and other “stuffs” I haven’t had enough energy for quilting or blogging in a while! I seem to be making my way out of this imposed hibernation though. Managed to come online every now and then but I can’t wait to catch up on what I’ve missed in the blogosphere and to hopefully have something to share with you soon.
Recall that in my blog hop post consider the flowers(which is part of a series of posts to come) I asked this question – If you had the chance to start over what advice would you give your new beginner self? I received so many wonderful advice that I promised to compile and share in another post. Who knows, it just might help someone out there right?
Thank you so much for all your wonderful comment on the blog hop post! Unfortunately my blog had a mind of its own and I was unable to get notifications by email. I believe I replied everyone one way or the other and if I didn’t, I apologize.
Where were we?…Yes, I was telling you about my crazy experiment with trying to up size Jen’s wonderful pattern because making the small one just wasn’t enough! I decided to multiply all the given dimensions…I mean if you want to double numbers you multiply by 2 isn’t it? Turns out it isn’t as simple as that with quilting maths. How’s your week been? This week has been a very wonderful one…thanks to you all for visiting and for your lovely comments. I believe it was a very successful blog hop, I can’t say how happy I am that I participated. There were so many great advice in the comment and I’ll work towards compiling them all, it just might help someone! Continue reading “For a quick fix…Winnie and Friends to the rescue”
Welcome to my stop on the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop! I was so excited to participate in this last year and you know, once is never enough so of course I had to do this again. Thanks to this year’s amazing hosts Yvonne @quiltingjetgirl, Leanne @she can quilt and Beth @Cooking Up Quilts for letting me have another go at this. By the way, you should visit their blogs as they introduce other members of their hives today. As always, there are tons of prizes to win during these hops thanks to the generous sponsors so make sure you check that out.
Now to the reason you are here…my name is Sola and I quilt and Blog in my little corner of the globe all the way in Nigeria! Why Alice Samuel’s Quilt Co? I chose that name as a memorial to my parents. I would love to tell you a lot more about me but I believe I already covered that much here and here.
Good news…my younger sister recently visited haha, that’s not news. The news is that she was nice enough to bring some clothes she made for me (Yes my sister also sews!..she’s yet to catch the quilting fever though). While she was around, I had to suspend sewing because she monopolized my sewing space. No complaints there, she was only making me some more clothes…Happy days! Continue reading “Monday Catch ups”
Happy New month friends, it’s already a week gone in the new month and I haven’t been here but I promise I have so many exciting things to share with you I don’t even know where to start. Let’s get right to it shall we?
Remember the color theory experiment I did on that baby quilt first mentioned here? I said it’s one of those love it or hate it color combinations and I kept second guessing myself all the while I was working on this project. Guess what, it is now a completed project and I absolutely love it, so much I can easily say it’s one of my favorite finishes. This was such an enlightening project in so many ways, I learnt to stop second guessing myself and just take a chance. It was also interesting to see the transformation that took place as I quilted this. Continue reading “F is for Finished…Friday Finished Quilt Reveal.”
