Recall that in my intro post this year, I apologized for being away too long, gave my reasons and mentioned the quilts I made last year but was unable to share.
Well if you follow me on Instagram you would have seen the few I recently posted. Of course they are mostly baby quilts…remember those Disney panels I’ve had like forever? I did manage to make a few more of those which I intend to share with you in this post. Continue reading “B is for Baby – Another Throwback Thursday”
Welcome back and Happy New Month!
Thank you so much for all your wonderful comment on the blog hop post! Unfortunately my blog had a mind of its own and I was unable to get notifications by email. I believe I replied everyone one way or the other and if I didn’t, I apologize.
Where were we?…Yes, I was telling you about my crazy experiment with trying to up size Jen’s wonderful pattern because making the small one just wasn’t enough! I decided to multiply all the given dimensions…I mean if you want to double numbers you multiply by 2 isn’t it? Turns out it isn’t as simple as that with quilting maths. Continue reading “Quilter’s Laundry Day Mini Quilt Pattern: My crazy experiment!”
How’s your week been? This week has been a very wonderful one…thanks to you all for visiting and for your lovely comments. I believe it was a very successful blog hop, I can’t say how happy I am that I participated. There were so many great advice in the comment and I’ll work towards compiling them all, it just might help someone! Continue reading “For a quick fix…Winnie and Friends to the rescue”
Happy New month friends, it’s already a week gone in the new month and I haven’t been here but I promise I have so many exciting things to share with you I don’t even know where to start. Let’s get right to it shall we?
Remember the color theory experiment I did on that baby quilt first mentioned enter site here? I said it’s one of those love it or hate it color combinations and I kept second guessing myself all the while I was working on this project. Guess what, it is now a completed project and I absolutely love it, so much I can easily say it’s one of my favorite finishes. This was such an enlightening project in so many ways, I learnt to stop second guessing myself and just take a chance. It was also interesting to see the transformation that took place as I quilted this. Continue reading “F is for Finished…Friday Finished Quilt Reveal.”
Welcome to everyone on the blog hop visiting here for the first time – Good to have you here and I hope you decide to look around and follow me on my adventure. My name is Sola and you can read all about me and my quilting journey buy dapoxetine in thailand here and http://lendingcoach.net/mortgage-personal/ here. For the regular visitors, welcome back for the big reveal of my secret sewing project…The Quilter’s Laundry Day Mini Quilt designed by Jen Rosin of A Dream and a Stitch (a free pattern available on Craftsy here) the blog hop is hosted by both Jen and Janice Holton of Color Creating & Quilting – Thanks Ladies (stop over and drop a comment on their blogs for your chance to win lovely prizes).
I really do love a challenge and trying out new things (at least in my quilting) as most of my previous creations would suggest. Therefore, when I came upon the call to join the blog hop and saw the beautiful pattern, I knew I had to give it a try. I remembered wanting to create the shadow mini quilt from the hop last year but I couldn’t.
I must confess though, that I almost gave up after downloading the pattern and seeing all those tiny pieces needed for the mini (16.5″). I’m afraid my brain doesn’t deal well with anything smaller than 2” unless it’s a long strip but this pattern had me cutting 1.5 x 2.5” pieces…pheww! In addition to that, I am terrible at labeling my pieces and not mixing up the pieces without labeling was a real trial! Fortunately for me, cutting and keeping track of the pieces were the only difficult part of the entire process, the rest of the steps went by like a breeze. This is all thanks to Jen for a pattern so clearly written, concise and easy to follow.

Thank you so much for all your warm birthday wishes and for making my day very special!
Unfortunately, I keep getting disappointments regarding the delivery of my sewing table. At this point, I have resigned myself to patiently waiting for the delivery whenever it comes through. Consequently, I am not getting a lot of sewing done as my stop-gap setup is not the most convenient and piecing or small quilting is all I can do.
Anyway, I completed the Wonky Log Cabin Baby Quilt a while back like I mentioned in previous posts here and here. Over the weekend I made an attempt to photograph it. Now I can finally reveal the finished Quilt, I have to say I absolutely love this one, probably because I enjoyed the process of making it so much 🙂 Continue reading “It’s a wrap…First Finished Quilt of 2017”
When I wrote my last post, I was sure that’ll be the last post for the year. However, I started seeing posts from other blogs I follow listing their top 5 posts of 2016 as part of the Best of 2016 linky party hosted by Cheryl of @meadowmistdesigns I figured I might as well join the party and review year 2016.
Earlier in the year, I wrote a post titled No resolutions only commitments and in that post I mentioned that reflecting back on 2015 so many goals were left under achieved and resolutions unfulfilled but I have another chance to make things right in 2016. To that effect, I decided I wasn’t making any list of resolutions but I instead made these commitments: Continue reading “In retrospect…end of year review”
Now that I am gradually coming out of my lull (read more about that in random musings) I can finally reveal what I’ve managed to accomplish since the last finished Quilt post. You already saw Anna and Elsa and the other baby Quilts as well as the pillows I made from my left over scraps from piecing and binding the Chevron Quilt. In addition, I did mention a couple of posts back that I completed my Quilt as you go Queen size Quilt and you know I completed the chevron and Nautical quilts.
The other weekend I managed to take another trip to the park to photograph the finished quilts. However, it was a very sunny morning and the pictures could be better but I thought I got some decent ones to share certainly beats taking them in my poorly lit home. Continue reading “It’s a wrap!…recent finishes (part 1)”
Hello again everyone, if you received my earlier post We are moving then you know we are in a new location. So far everything looks about right but please let me know of any observations, issues or questions in your comments… Thanks!
Besides welcoming you to the new location, I thought I should share with you some of the projects I’ve been working on as mentioned here. As a follow up on that post, I mentioned I was attaching the backing and finishing off my Quilt-As-You-Go Queen Size Quilt…I can gladly report it’s done! Continue reading “Hello from the other side!”

Welcome everyone, Long post alert but it’s my first tutorial y’all! My name is Sola in case you are visiting for the first time via the blog hop, I do hope you enjoy looking around and find a reason to stick around! In other news, sadly (yes I did say sadly )I’m back to work today after my long holiday . It feels like yesterday when I was tracking my fabric delivery hoping it gets to me before I left for my holiday but guess what, they delivered it a day after! Anyway, 3 weeks later after lots of hiccup and dragging my husband out of bed at 6 a.m., I finally got the fabric. Wait…what fabric am I on about?
Well I’ve had exciting things happening since I took part in the 2016 New Quilt Blogger Blog Hop and somehow I took a leap of faith and signed up for this blog hop (the reason why you are here). The Blog Hop is sponsored by Cloud 9, and hosted by (Thank you Ladies! 🙂 )Yvonne of Quilting Jetgirl, Cheryl of Meadow Mist Designs and Stephanie of Late Night Quilter! I believe there are almost 70 bloggers creating new blocks using the fat quarter bundle of the oh so soft and oh so pretty organic Cirrus Solids generously provided by Cloud9 fabrics and the palette we got is called “Berry Harvest” how befitting and clever. Before I forget, Don’t miss out on the (3) separate fat bundle giveaways, visit the hosts for entry details! Another cool fact, all the new blocks are going to be pieced together to make a charity Quilt. Continue reading “Welcome to Cloud 9 New Blog Hop”
